2025 Deadliest Year for Jews Outside Israel Since Buenos Aires Bombing, Report Says

A new report by the J7 Large Communities’ Task Force Against Antisemitism indicates that 2025 was the deadliest year for anti-Jewish violence outside of Israel since the 1994 Buenos Aires bombing, with 20 murders in antisemitic attacks. The task force documented over 23,000 antisemitic incidents across seven countries, a 136% increase from 2022, describing antisemitism in these nations as “our new normal.” The murders included 15 people killed at a Chanukah celebration in Sydney, two at a Manchester synagogue, two at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., and one in Boulder, Colorado. Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, noted, “2025 was one of the most violent years for American Jews on record.” The report recommends that governments provide security funding and stronger laws, and urges technology companies to enhance moderation of hate content.
