25 years after 9/11, memory and resolve endure at Jerusalem memorial

A ceremony was held in Jerusalem on September 9, 2024, at the 9/11 Living Memorial to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The event, attended by families, first responders, and officials, honored the nearly 3,000 victims and reaffirmed the U.S.-Israel bond. U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee stated, "Twenty-five years after the horrific September 11 attacks, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives taken and the families who have carried that loss." Professor Marc Wilkenfeld highlighted the ongoing health crisis, noting, "More than 9,000 more have died since" due to 9/11-related illnesses. The memorial, established in 2009, is the only one outside the U.S. listing all victims' names, including five Israelis. The ceremony also featured survivors of the October 7, 2023, Supernova music festival massacre, underscoring the enduring fight against terrorism and the "unbreakable bond" between the U.S. and Israel.
