66% of likely in-state voters think Shapiro doing well or should do more on Israel

A new New York Times-Siena College-Philadelphia Inquirer poll indicates that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, holds a significant lead over his Republican challenger, Stacy Garrity, with 55% to 39% support for his re-election. The survey, conducted August 17-21 among 760 likely voters, also found that 60% approve of Shapiro's overall job performance. Regarding his stance on Israel, 47% of likely voters believe Shapiro's position is "about right," while 14% consider him "too supportive" and 19% believe he is "not supportive enough." Shapiro, a Jewish governor, has been a strong supporter of Israel's right to exist but has also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and endorsed an independent Palestinian state. The poll also noted that 86% of likely Pennsylvania voters would support Shapiro if he sought the White House.
