80-year-old man killed after balcony collapses in central Jerusalem

An 80-year-old man was killed and three others were injured on Monday after a balcony collapsed in Jerusalem's Rehavia neighborhood. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Keren Kayemet LeIsrael Street, above an Angel bakery branch. The Magen David Adom ambulance service pronounced the man dead at the scene due to multisystemic injuries, while an 80-year-old woman, identified as his wife, sustained light injuries, and two teenagers received treatment for scratches. Residents had reportedly notified police and city authorities about the balcony's instability earlier that day, and an inspector had visited the site hours before the collapse, ordering structural reinforcement work. The Jerusalem Municipality stated that engineers were dispatched to stabilize the structure and assess risks.
