‘A testament’ to ‘most evil’ form of hatred, Nevada senator says of visiting Auschwitz
“There are countless lessons of the Holocaust, but one of the strongest ones is what can happen when ordinary people look at hatred with indifference,” Sen. Jacky Rosen told JNS.
Senator Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) recently visited Poland, meeting with Jewish leaders and touring significant Holocaust memorial sites. During her trip, she engaged with representatives from the American Jewish Committee, the Krakow Jewish Community Center, and Poland's Chief Rabbi Michael Schudrich, discussing the impact of antisemitism and effective countermeasures. Senator Rosen visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, the Galicia Jewish Museum, and Krakow's historic Kazimierz Jewish quarter. At Auschwitz, she honored Holocaust victims and laid a wreath for Americans at the Death Wall. Rosen stated that the preserved camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau "stand as a testament to what can happen when hatred is allowed to reach its most evil form," emphasizing that "one of the strongest lessons is what can happen when ordinary people look at hatred with indifference."
