Adam Smith blasts progressive left for enabling harassment of pro-Israel lawmakers

Representative Adam Smith (D-WA) criticized the progressive left for "illiberal" tactics, including harassing pro-Israel lawmakers and ignoring such behavior. In an interview with the "Breaking Points" podcast, Smith stated, "I have been unable to hold a town hall meeting for a year because a bunch of leftists show up and scream at me and don’t let anyone else speak." He also condemned death threats against him and his family. Smith argued that much of the left focuses on academic discussions of racism rather than practical community solutions. He expressed concerns about Hamas and Hezbollah, and while he voted to cut aid to Israel due to the Netanyahu government's actions, he emphasized Israel's existential fight and the consequences of a Palestinian right of return, which he believes would lead to the end of a Jewish state and potential Hamas governance.
