Ahead of Netanyahu meeting, 600 former security officials press Trump on settler violence

Nearly 600 former Israeli security officials, including ex-heads of Mossad and Shin Bet, sent a letter to U.S. President Donald Trump ahead of his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to intervene against settler violence in the West Bank. The officials, organized by Commanders for Israel’s Security, warned that these “acts of terrorism by Jewish settlers” could lead to consequences “even more catastrophic than the Hamas atrocities of October 7.” They argued that continued violence, alongside policies undermining the Palestinian Authority, threatens Israeli security, regional stability, and Trump’s diplomatic initiatives, including the Abraham Accords and his Gaza plan. The letter accused members of Netanyahu’s government of orchestrating and protecting this chaos, hindering law enforcement efforts against Jewish terrorists. They emphasized, “No one but you, Mr. President, can prevent this disaster.”
