AI, jets, drones: IAI chairman Boaz Levy describes future battlefield, air force – interview

Boaz Levy, Chairman of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), outlined his vision for the future battlefield, emphasizing a reliance on space, artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous systems, and seamless connectivity. Levy stated, "IAI is a space superpower," highlighting Israel's advanced satellite capabilities, including the Ofek reconnaissance satellites, which provide critical intelligence for precise strikes. He revealed plans for a larger constellation of small satellites to enable continuous tracking of areas of interest, a project that has received government approval and funding. The future battlefield will feature fewer soldiers and more robots, with advanced sensing and AI algorithms analyzing vast data pools to predict events. Levy stressed that future wars will occur in cities, necessitating a unified data network for military, civilian, and emergency services. He also addressed the growing threat of drones, advocating for an integrated detection and interception solution combining kinetic, electronic warfare, and laser technologies. Regarding a missile corps, Levy affirmed the need for missiles to provide superiority, considering the operational entity a secondary concern.
