AJU's Rabbi Bradley Shavit Artson receives Mathilde Schechter Award

Rabbi Bradley Shavit Artson, American Jewish University's (AJU) Goldstine Distinguished Scholar, received the Mathilde Schechter Award from the Women's League for Conservative Judaism (WLCJ) during their international convention held July 12-15 in Alexandria, Va. The award, established in 1984, recognizes individuals who have made a lasting impact through service to Judaism and humanity. Rabbi Artson was honored for his lifetime of scholarship, spiritual leadership, and service to the Conservative movement, including 26 years as Dean of AJU's Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies. AJU president and CEO Jay Sanderson stated, "Rabbi Artson has devoted his career to making Jewish learning intellectually rigorous, spiritually meaningful and accessible to diverse communities." Rabbi Artson expressed gratitude, noting Mathilde Schechter "launched an organization in her own image: bold, bright women who took on leadership roles."
