American businessman and husband of Code Pink founder under investigation for foreign agent, tax violations

American businessman Neville Roy Singham, husband of Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans, is under criminal investigation by a federal grand jury in the Southern District of New York. The probe, which began as a Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) investigation, has expanded to include potential federal tax law violations. Singham is being investigated for allegedly funneling money through nonprofits he controls and making false statements on IRS filings for these organizations. Singham, who made a fortune after selling his IT firm Thoughtworks, has since financed a global network of nonprofits and think tanks, reportedly promoting pro-Beijing messaging. Previous reports by The New York Times and The Free Press alleged he routed hundreds of millions of dollars through opaque entities, with his donations at one point covering up to 25% of Code Pink’s operating budget. Congressional Republicans are also scrutinizing his nonprofit network for potential Chinese influence.
