AMIA bombing victims remembered as Argentina marks 32 years without justice

On Friday, July 18, 2024, Argentina's Jewish community gathered at the AMIA center in Buenos Aires to commemorate 32 years since the antisemitic terrorist bombing that killed 85 people and wounded over 300. The ceremony, attended by Argentinian President Javier Milei and other dignitaries, marked the deadliest terrorist attack in Argentinian history. Speakers, including AMIA President Osvaldo Armoza, highlighted the lack of significant developments in the case, stating, “In the past year, there have been no significant developments in the AMIA case.” He also noted a resurgence of antisemitism since October 7, 2023. This year, an Argentinian high court ruled Iran responsible for both the 1994 AMIA bombing and the 1992 Israeli embassy bombing, with Hezbollah also implicated in the AMIA attack, leading President Milei to request the arrest of IRGC Commander-in-Chief Ahmad Vahidi.
