Argentina to file criminal complaint against Israeli drilling company for operating in Falklands

Argentina announced on Monday that it will file a criminal complaint against Israeli oil company Navitas Petroleum for operating in the disputed Falkland Islands. The complaint, issued by President Javier Milei's office, targets Navitas and other petroleum companies for operating under licenses from the UK's "illegitimate government." Argentina aims to "protect natural resources and safeguard the sovereignty of the Argentine Republic over the Malvinas Islands." This action follows a report that Argentina delayed moving its embassy to Jerusalem due to tensions over Navitas's drilling plans. The Argentine Foreign Ministry previously stated that Navitas's plans were “unilateral and illegitimate,” warning of “potentially irreversible future consequences.”
