As he pushes for ultra-Orthodox enlistment, Moshe Leitner aims to put Haredi Public on a new path

Moti Leitner, deputy mayor of Beit Shemesh, leads the new Haredi Public Party, aiming to offer an alternative to existing ultra-Orthodox parties by supporting Haredi enlistment in the IDF. Leitner believes that while some Haredi men should continue full-time Torah study, the majority should serve in the military or national service. He stated, "There are tens of thousands of haredim, for whom studying all day in yeshiva doesn't suit, who want to be more in the world of action." The party also advocates for teaching core curriculum subjects in Haredi schools and bridging divides between Haredi and other Israeli communities. Leitner opposes sanctions on draft evaders, suggesting positive incentives are more effective, and plans to improve support for Haredi new immigrants.
