At Dachau ovens, N. Carolina state house candidate says: 'This is where Trump supporters belong'

Shelly Headen, a Democratic state legislative candidate in North Carolina, posted a picture on social media from the Dachau concentration camp in Germany with the caption, "This is where Trump supporters belong." The post, made during what she called a family vacation, shows Headen smiling in front of the camp's crematorium ovens. Headen, who is running for a state House seat against Republican incumbent John Blust, has a history of controversial online statements, including a previous post suggesting "our only hope is an attack on US soil, ... preferably Alabama, Louisiana ... where the stupid people are." Additionally, law enforcement reports from 2024 document her as a suspect in two domestic violence incidents involving her husband, though Headen has offered a contradictory explanation for one of these events.
