Beersheba residents now eligible for firearm licenses under expanded reform

Beersheba residents are now eligible to apply for personal firearm licenses, as confirmed by the National Security Ministry on Sunday. This expansion is part of a broader firearms reform initiated in 2023 by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, following a review by the Israel Police and the Firearms Licensing Division. Since the reform's expansion, over 280,000 citizens have received licenses, and more than 200 communities, including parts of Jerusalem, Netanya, and Ashdod, have become eligible. Ben-Gvir stated, "A weapon in the right hands saves lives," and expressed pride in extending the "firearms revolution" to Beersheba, emphasizing citizens' right to self-defense.
