Ben-Gurion Airport operations disrupted by civilian drone intrusion, takeoffs and landings halted

Operations at Ben-Gurion Airport were disrupted on Wednesday when a civilian drone entered its airspace, leading to a halt in takeoffs and landings during peak hours. The Transportation Ministry Director-General, Moshe Ben Zaken, has initiated an investigation into the incident. This event follows a July 23 report about a potential complete ban on civilian drones in Israeli airspace, proposed by the defense establishment due to concerns about Iranian attacks. However, TSG president Pini Jungman, whose company specializes in aerial command-and-control systems, condemned the proposed ban, stating it "cannot be complied with" given the millions of drones, many operated by children, making enforcement difficult.
