Veteran pro-Israel Democratic Congressman Brad Sherman warned that Israel's international standing and its relationship with the United States are at risk due to shifting American public opinion, settler violence, and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's presence in the cabinet. Sherman highlighted a CNN analysis showing a 67-point drop in Israel's net favorability among Americans since 2018, with 55% believing US military assistance should be reduced or ended. He stated, "Ben-Gvir in the cabinet is an existential threat. Israel cannot survive without friends in the world." Sherman emphasized that continued settler violence, which he believes will persist until ministries are held by those genuinely opposing it, will further worsen these poll numbers. Ben-Gvir responded, asserting he would "continue to act for the security of Israel's citizens, fearlessly!"
