National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir welcomed Sami Abu Shehadeh’s decision to withdraw from the Knesset race on Thursday, following a campaign led by his Otzma Yehudit party over Abu Shehadeh's statements after October 7. “We promised – and we delivered!" Ben Gvir stated, while lamenting the lack of a legal precedent. “Otzma Yehudit will continue to fight with all its might against supporters of terrorism and Israel-haters seeking to enter the Knesset. Abu Shehadeh will watch the next Knesset on Channel 99. Bye-bye, Abu Shehadeh!"
