Betrayed by its Allies, Hamas Accepts Imperialist Control of Gaza

On Monday, July 6, Hamas dissolved its emergency committee, effectively relinquishing administrative control of the Gaza Strip. This decision transfers authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), a body created under a U.S.-backed plan and overseen by the Board of Peace. Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated, "The movement advanced in removing occupation excuses, with Hamas fulfilling commitments. Now, mediators, guarantor states, and the U.S. must ensure the ceasefire is implemented." The move comes amid escalating pressure from Israel, which has continued to consolidate control over Gaza and restrict humanitarian aid, and increasing isolation from its regional allies like Qatar, Turkey, and Iran. This concession is seen as a victory for Israel and U.S. imperialism, with former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert describing a proposed "humanitarian city" for Gazans as a "concentration camp."
