Bishara Bahbah says Hamas proposes 10 year ceasefire and disarmament – interview

Dr. Bishara Bahbah, a Palestinian-American scholar and former mediator, claims Hamas has proposed a detailed demilitarization plan to the Trump administration. This proposal, submitted approximately three weeks ago, includes a 10-to-15-year ceasefire (hudna) during which Hamas would surrender all weapons, cease manufacturing and smuggling, end military demonstrations, and abandon its tunnel network. Bahbah stated, "The proposal talked about Hamas giving up its weapons." In return, Hamas seeks a long-term ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal, with security guarantees for its members and leadership being a high priority. While Bahbah believes Hamas is serious due to pressure from other Palestinian factions, he noted that the initial Israeli response has been cautious, with officials unconvinced that Hamas's proposal is sufficient for irreversible disarmament.
