Bnei Brak Municipality allegedly blocked road with dumpsters before Shabbat in protest – report

The Bnei Brak Municipality allegedly blocked an access road near the Sufrim Complex with large metal dumpsters before Shabbat, reportedly in protest against secular residents driving through the neighborhood on Shabbat and amid claims of secularization efforts. The municipality denied involvement. Police were called by secular residents, removed the dumpsters, and reopened the road, summoning the drivers for questioning on suspicion of endangering a traffic route. The driver claimed he acted on municipal instructions. This incident follows escalating tensions, including a previous attempt by haredi residents to block the road with a fence, which police also removed. Police stated, "Secular people also intentionally provoke haredim, drive recklessly, and do burnouts," but emphasized that no legal decision permits closing the road, urging resolution through the courts.
