BoP chief met with Netanyahu, requested end of strikes on Hamas, sources tell 'Post'

Board of Peace (BoP) Director-General Nickolay Mladenov met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, requesting a halt to IDF strikes in Gaza to initiate a 14-day ceasefire. This ceasefire aims to begin the demilitarization of Hamas, which has allegedly committed to the process. The BoP described the meeting as “constructive and detailed,” with both parties agreeing on the objective of “the complete decommissioning of weapons in the [Gaza] Strip and the transition away from rule by the gun to civilian governance.” The IDF's withdrawal from Gaza is contingent on the decommissioning of all weapons and military infrastructure. Mladenov stated that the current phase is “slow, grinding and technical work,” and previously implied that IDF strikes were hindering peace efforts, noting that “Two days of strikes across Gaza have killed civilians and destroyed medical supplies that people depend on.” This follows an IDF announcement that it had killed two Hamas commanders and three other terrorists in Gaza over the weekend.
