The Trump administration plans to launch a nationwide campaign against antisemitism in early September, sending senior Justice Department officials to 15 cities. Leo Terrell, chairman of the Justice Department's Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, stated the initiative, approved by President Trump, aims to assist Jewish communities not receiving adequate protection from local governments. "The 15-city tour is designed to go to victims who need help, and they're not getting help from their local government," Terrell said. The interagency team, including the FBI and Department of Labor, will educate communities on their legal rights and highlight local government failures in prosecuting hate crimes. Terrell cited New York and Los Angeles as examples where local officials are not doing enough, noting, "The hate crime conviction rate or charges do not exist in these blue cities." The campaign will run for 60 to 90 days and includes a media strategy to counter online antisemitic content, with potential federal legal action if local governments continue to fail.
