CENTCOM launches multinational attack drone force as US adapts to drone warfare

US Central Command (CENTCOM) launched Task Force Falcon Strike, a new multinational attack drone force, on August 13. This initiative aims to adapt to the increasing prevalence of drone warfare, building on previous efforts like Task Force Scorpion Strike and Task Force 59. The new force will utilize one-way attack drones, similar to those used by Iran and Ukraine, for precision strikes. CENTCOM's efforts reflect lessons from conflicts in Ukraine and the Red Sea, and the growing use of Iranian drones. US Marine General Kenneth McKenzie previously warned in February 2021 about the threat of cheap commercial drones, stating they could be acquired "at Costco right now." Israel, a pioneer in drone warfare, is a key partner in these technological advancements.
