Central Elections Committee head Sohlberg stresses need for election integrity in meeting with A-G

Central Elections Committee Chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg met with Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara on Sunday to discuss safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process ahead of the October 27 elections. Sohlberg emphasized that “Election integrity is not merely a legal principle; it is a fundamental prerequisite for public trust in democracy.” Both officials stressed the importance of cooperation among state authorities to ensure a proper and fair election, free from improper influence. Baharav-Miara stated that “All law enforcement authorities will work in full cooperation with the Central Elections Committee.” This meeting follows President Isaac Herzog's warning about hostile actors attempting to undermine the election. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir criticized the Attorney-General, calling her a “criminal” and demanding her removal from election involvement.
