Coming full circle: Luxury watch belonging to Chabad rebbes found by hasidic children in Lyubavichi

During a Jewish summer camp in Russia, children from Moscow's Gan Israel camp discovered a rare, luxurious pocket watch and old ruble coins while digging in the historic courtyard of Lyubavichi, the birthplace of the Chabad Hasidic movement. Rabbi Gabriel Gordon, director of the local Chabad House, suggested the watch likely belonged to a member of the rebbes' families. Russia's Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar, visiting the main summer camp, received a 100-year-old red Pioneer necktie alongside a green Hasidic camp necktie, symbolizing the triumph of the Jewish spirit. Lazar stated, "Our greatest success as a community is seeing how we take care of the next generation." The discovery and camp experience aim to connect children, many from remote Russian communities, to their Jewish heritage.
