"Dan is absolutely our next hope," says Yoni Erlich, Israel's Davis Cup captain.
His coach, Amos Mansdorf, Israel's highest-ranking men's singles player of all time, has been working with Brand since he was 12 and describes him as a "nice, quiet, low-key, hard-working, and dedicated" player. Brand's father, Shai, a former two-time world champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, recounts how Dan transitioned from soccer to tennis after a coach recognized his unique talent. Brand is currently attending a pre-US Open International Tennis Federation Grand Slam Player Development Program in Maryland.
