Despite Israeli military successes against Iran's nuclear program in 2025 and early 2026, the potential danger remains real, though not imminent, according to multiple sources. While Iran is not currently enriching uranium and most facilities were destroyed, a significant number of centrifuges survived deep underground. These could potentially be salvaged to secretly weaponize uranium. Furthermore, Iran might employ clandestine digging to retrieve enriched uranium from rubble, circumventing surveillance. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been unable to monitor Iran's nuclear program since June 2025. IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi stated, "As stated in the report, [the] agency has neither received information from Iran regarding the status of its declared nuclear material or facilities nor had access to any of those facilities to conduct in-field verification activities." Israel's focus has shifted to preventing Iran from rebuilding weapons development facilities, an area where Tehran has made no significant progress. Despite substantial damage to Iran's program, Israeli intelligence remains vigilant against potential Iranian ingenuity.
