Developing next surprises: Defense Ministry officials discuss defense-tech future with top startups

The Israeli Defense Ministry, led by Director General Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram, convened with CEOs from approximately 20 leading defense-tech startups to discuss the country's defense strategy. Key objectives include advancing Israel's munitions independence, strengthening its technological edge, and deepening cooperation within the defense establishment. Baram emphasized, "One of our strategic goals is munitions independence in critical components - we cannot allow our operational capability to depend on a supply chain we do not control." The ministry reported that defense-tech export orders reached an estimated $330 million, double the amount from the same period in 2025. The strategy also involves fostering collaboration between startups and major manufacturers, promoting healthy competition, and expanding strategic partnerships with countries like the United States.
