Did Iran’s IRGC chief really vow to develop nuclear weapons?

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Wednesday that Ahmad Vahidi, commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, had "explicitly declared" Iran's intention to develop nuclear weapons. Netanyahu claimed these remarks were made that day, but no such public statement was reported by Iranian or international media. The alleged quote first appeared on unofficial English-language social media accounts hours before Netanyahu's speech. U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz shared the claim, stating, "Finally admitting what has been obvious for years." However, the veracity of Vahidi's alleged statement remains unconfirmed. This follows a previous claim by Netanyahu in June that Iran already possessed atomic bombs, which was disputed by Yashar! party chairman Gadi Eisenkot as an "invention."
