Dozens of cardiologists may have skipped internal medicine training, falsified records – report

A review committee of the Israeli Medical Association's Scientific Council found that dozens of cardiology residents at Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot may have skipped internal medicine training, with residency logs allegedly falsified. Professor Kobi George, head of the cardiology department, is accused of guiding these falsifications to address manpower shortages. The council recommended permanently barring George from managing residency programs and removing recognition of Kaplan's cardiology department as a training site while he is on staff. George denies the allegations, stating, "All residents and specialists in cardiology underwent the required clinical, theoretical, and research training." Clalit Health Services, which operates Kaplan, has established a committee to address the findings, with the Health Ministry yet to make a binding decision.
