Eisenkot: PM asked me as IDF chief to order troops into bunkers in area where his son was serving

Former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once urgently requested that troops in a specific Golan Heights sector enter bunkers. Eisenkot, who served as chief from 2015-2019, later discovered that one of Netanyahu's sons was serving in that area. Eisenkot refused the request, stating, "There is a constant risk to civilians, to soldiers, but it is not the right thing to do." He also criticized recent reports of Sara Netanyahu contacting Shin Bet head David Zini regarding extended security for the Netanyahu family, calling such attempts to influence security officials "completely insane." Eisenkot further condemned Zini's reported statement that his loyalty lies with elected officials over the state, asserting that such a person should be dismissed.
