FBI, Justice Dep't seize $560,000 in Hamas cryptocurrency, takes control of Hamas domains

The FBI and US Department of Justice have seized $560,000 in cryptocurrency and taken control of domains and servers used by Hamas, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. These court-authorized actions aim to disrupt Hamas's fundraising and recruitment efforts for its military wing, the Al Qassam Brigades. US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro stated, "We will stop your fundraising for terror." The FBI's Albuquerque Field Office, in collaboration with human sources, identified and seized infrastructure, including the Al Qassam Brigades' main website, AlQassam.ps. Assistant Attorney General John A. Eisenberg noted, "These seizures deprive Hamas of resources it relies on to recruit and radicalize individuals online and finance barbaric attacks like the one on October 7, 2023." The FBI emphasized its commitment to intercepting illicit funds and preventing terrorist organizations from exploiting digital networks.
