Fetterman Says He Will Leave Democrats if Party Adopts Anti-Israel Platform

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) stated on Thursday that he would leave the Democratic Party if it officially adopted an anti-Israel platform, specifically if it opposed U.S. aid to Israel. He called this a “red line” following a House vote where a measure to end aid to Israel was defeated. Fetterman emphasized, “Democrats, we always should support Israel. That’s our special ally, you know? In the only democracy in the entire region, that’s Israel.” He further clarified that he could not support a party that officially declared “Israel is the problem, Israel doesn’t deserve to exist, and I’m never going to support aid.” Fetterman did not specify if he would join the Republican Party or become an independent if he were to leave the Democrats.
