Fiji launches Israel Allies Caucus in push to strengthen ties with Israel

Fiji has launched an Israel Allies Caucus in its parliament, the 65th worldwide, to strengthen ties with Israel and advocate for moving national embassies to Jerusalem. Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka, the caucus will focus on advancing relations, combating antisemitism, and opposing boycott initiatives. The launch in Suva was attended by Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Israeli Ambassador Maya Yaron, and Israel Allies Foundation President Josh Reinstein. Gavoka stated, “It is a great honor for Fiji to establish the 65th Israel Allies Caucus. As a nation that values faith, democracy, and friendship, we stand firmly with Israel.” The event was followed by a Jerusalem Summit dinner, where Rabuka delivered a keynote address celebrating Fiji's decision to relocate its embassy to Jerusalem and encouraging other Pacific Island nations to follow suit. Reinstein described Fiji's decision as a “defining moment for the Pacific.”
