Fiji PM: ‘Embassy Opening Most Welcome Development in History of Fiji-Israel Relationship’

Fiji launched the 65th Israel Allies Caucus on Tuesday, a parliamentary platform aimed at strengthening ties with Israel and encouraging other Pacific nations to follow suit. The event, held in Fiji’s parliament in Suva, gathered lawmakers, government officials, diplomats, and church leaders. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka stated, “The establishment of the Fiji Israel Allies Caucus is the most welcome development in the history of the Fiji-Israel relationship.” Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka, the caucus will promote pro-Israel legislation, combat antisemitism, and deepen bilateral cooperation based on shared democratic and biblical values. The launch was followed by the Jerusalem Summit, co-hosted with the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ), which discussed the diplomatic, economic, and faith-based implications of Fiji’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and potentially relocate its embassy, serving as a model for other Pacific Island nations.
