Fire breaks out at diesel tank at Libya's Zawiya oil depot – statement

A fire erupted on Monday in a diesel tank at Libya's Zawiya oil depot, approximately 40 km west of Tripoli, after the tank was struck by an unknown cause, according to the Brega Petroleum Marketing Company. The National Oil Corporation (NOC) stated the tank, containing an estimated 4.5 million liters of gasoline, "was directly targeted" and declared an extreme state of emergency, demanding immediate intervention and investigation. Firefighter brigades are working to contain the blaze, though the refinery, the country's largest with a capacity of 120,000 barrels per day, remains operational. This incident follows a drone crash at the same refinery on Saturday, which caused a naphtha leak that was subsequently controlled.
