Former officials approaching Mansour Abbas over possibility of Segalovitz joining Ra'am

Former senior Israeli security officials have approached Ra'am chairman Mansour Abbas regarding former Yesh Atid MK Yoav Segalovitz potentially joining the party, according to Channel 12 journalist Muhammad Majadle. Segalovitz, who recently left Yesh Atid, is reportedly considering a move to Ra'am, with other Jewish figures from the security establishment possibly joining him. Majadle stated, "Recently, several people approached Ra'am following the negotiations with Yoav Segalovitz." While there is mutual interest, ideological and technical hurdles remain, including Segalovitz's desire for Ra'am to commit to a national service framework for Arab citizens and acknowledge Israel as a Jewish and democratic state. Abbas faces an August 22 deadline to implement internal party changes, such as separating from the Shura Council and the Islamic Movement, and reserving slots for Jewish and Christian candidates. Abbas's determination stems from a desire to redefine Ra'am's direction and foster a new form of Arab-Jewish political partnership.
