Former Wolfson doctor sentenced to six years for rape, sexual assaults

Prof. Aryeh Levin, a former senior doctor at Wolfson Medical Center, was sentenced by the Tel Aviv District Court to six years in prison for raping a patient's mother and committing sexual offenses against two patients. The court also ordered Levin, 69, to pay NIS 750,000 in compensation to four women. This sentence is less than half the 13 years sought by prosecutors, who stated the complainants saw him as “a savior” and he exploited their trust. Levin was convicted in February after admitting to an amended indictment under a plea agreement, which included the rape of a patient's mother in 2013 and indecent acts between 2017 and 2021. The court emphasized the gravity of sexual offenses by medical professionals due to the inherent trust patients place in them. Orit Sulitzeanu, CEO of the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel, criticized the sentence, stating it “does not at all reflect the gravity of his appalling acts.” Levin has requested permanent cancellation of his medical license and has 45 days to appeal.
