French Jewish DJ sues after anti-Israel activists disrupt her gig, lawyer says

French Jewish DJ Barbara Butch has filed criminal complaints in Grenoble and Paris after anti-Israel activists disrupted her performance in Grenoble last Saturday. Butch was forced off stage 20 minutes into her set, with protesters allegedly shouting insults and throwing objects, including glass bottles. She described the experience, stating, “I wouldn’t wish on anyone — not even on my worst enemy — to feel or go through what I went through last Saturday.” The City of Grenoble also filed a complaint, citing evidence of violence and sabotage. Activists targeted Butch for signing a petition supporting a withdrawn bill to expand the definition of antisemitism, which critics argued would muzzle pro-Palestinian voices. Butch, previously known for her controversial appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, has also faced false accusations of attending an LGBTQ Pride event in Tel Aviv.
