Friedman: A Palestinian state will destroy Abraham Accords

Former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman stated in Congressional testimony on Monday that establishing a Palestinian state would "destroy" the Abraham Accords and undermine normalization efforts between Israel and Arab nations. Submitted to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs’ subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, Friedman argued that linking a Palestinian state to these agreements is "destined for failure" after October 7. He asserted that "Israel already has done the two-state experiment and that folly almost destroyed the Jewish state," adding that discussions of a Palestinian state are "wildly out of touch with the realities on the ground." Friedman concluded that a Palestinian state "will consume the region with even more conflict and violence."
