From Little League to Team Israel: Baseball takes root across the Holy Land

Baseball is rapidly expanding in Israel, highlighted by the first-ever Under-12 National Tournament held on July 9-10, which saw over 100 children from 11 cities participate. Efrat defeated Modiin in the championship game, played at Tel Aviv's Sportek Field. This growth is driven by dedicated parents, coaches, and organizations like the Israel Association of Baseball (IAB), which aims to create a "complete pathway from first grade through adulthood" for players.

"We are immensely proud of what we have brought to Efrat. Baseball is our rock - and it has helped ease the aliyah stresses for many who have moved to Efrat."

The IAB, celebrating its 40th anniversary, focuses on increasing participation and strengthening local clubs, recognizing that "quantity must come before quality" to build a sustainable foundation. Efforts include introducing Hebrew-language programs, expanding into new communities like Karmey Gat and Beersheba, and providing opportunities in areas near the Gaza border and northern Israel, offering children "routine, teamwork, physical activity, personal goals, mentorship, and a safe place to belong."
