Gal Gadot’s million-dollar Genesis Prize grows to $3 million for Israeli trauma care

Israeli actress Gal Gadot's $1 million Genesis Prize has expanded into a $3 million initiative to fund trauma and mental health care in Israel, the Genesis Prize Foundation announced. Gadot, the 2026 laureate, chose to direct her award towards organizations supporting Israel's psychological recovery following the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre and subsequent conflicts. Through a matching initiative with the Jewish Funders Network, the initial $1 million generated an additional $2 million in private and corporate donations. The funding will support two dozen Israeli nonprofit organizations providing trauma treatment and assistance to frontline mental health professionals.

"I want to dedicate these funds to the people who care for others every day: the doctors, nurses, medics, mental health professionals, and caregivers doing the difficult work of helping people recover and rebuild," Gadot stated.

The selected organizations operate across Israel, serving various populations including war survivors, children, and underrepresented communities, with a focus on strengthening the mental health and caregiver infrastructure.
