Government renames section of Route 443 in honor of David Levy

The Israeli government has approved renaming a section of Route 443 as “Levites’ Way in Memory of David Levy,” honoring the late diplomat and recognizing the region’s biblical ties. This designation applies to the highway stretch between the Ben Shemen Interchange and the Beitunia/Givat Ze’ev Junction. The decision commemorates David Levy, who served as deputy prime minister, foreign minister, and other key roles, and was known for advancing social equality and strengthening Israel’s periphery. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “David Levy was a dedicated public servant who contributed immensely to the State of Israel.” Transportation Minister Miri Regev added that naming this principal artery after him is a fitting tribute to a leader who promoted national unity and social justice. The Transportation Ministry will update road signs, and the new name will be published in Israel’s official gazette.
