Government renames section of Route 443 in honor of David Levy

The Israeli government has approved renaming a section of Route 443 as “Levites’ Way in Memory of David Levy,” honoring the late diplomat and recognizing the region’s biblical ties. The designated stretch runs between the Ben Shemen Interchange and the Beitunia/Givat Ze’ev Junction. This decision commemorates Levy’s legacy as a former deputy prime minister, foreign minister, and Knesset member, known for advancing social equality and strengthening Israel’s periphery. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “David Levy was a dedicated public servant who contributed immensely to the State of Israel.” Transportation Minister Miri Regev added that naming this principal artery after him is a fitting tribute to a leader who promoted national unity and social justice. The name also references the area’s historical connection to the Tribe of Levi and nearby Modi’in.
