Greece to sign $3.6b. Israeli air defense deal, creating 'Achilles Shield' against Turkey and Iran

Greece is set to sign a $3.6 billion defense deal with Israel on Monday in Tel Aviv, acquiring a multilayered air defense system known as "Achilles Shield." This agreement, the largest defense export deal in Israel's history, will provide Greece with an integrated defense network against potential threats from Turkey and Iran. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems will supply David's Sling and SPYDER systems, while Israel Aerospace Industries will provide the Barak MX system. The deal also includes a national command-and-control center with AI capabilities, and Greek companies will receive approximately €700 million as subcontractors. This agreement is expected to strengthen the strategic partnership between Greece and Israel, who have increased security coordination amid regional tensions.
