Hamas distributing personal weapons to operatives to avoid total disarmament amid BoP deal – report

Hamas has reportedly begun distributing individual weapons to its operatives in the Gaza Strip, according to Kan News, citing a Palestinian source. This action is intended to circumvent a disarmament deal proposed by the Board of Peace (BoP), with the aim of retaining weapons under the guise of personal ownership. The Palestinian source stated, "Hamas will not disarm. Period."

The BoP, however, maintains that Hamas is committed to the disarmament agreement, despite conflicting statements from Hamas officials. Other sources indicate Hamas confirmed its participation in the deal to Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the US. The BoP deal mandates Hamas disarmament and an IDF withdrawal from Gaza, with Israel emphasizing disarmament as a precondition. The 15-point plan requires Hamas to cease military activity within two weeks, followed by disarmament, while Israel adheres to ceasefire guidelines from October 2025.
