Haredi protesters attempt to block bus near Meron over Shabbat operations

Approximately 150 Haredi protesters attempted to block a public bus at Meron Junction on Saturday, part of a weekly demonstration that began in Safed, aiming to prevent public buses from operating before Shabbat ends. Counter-protesters from the Derech Hofshit movement, numbering around 70, gathered to prevent traffic obstruction, with police also present. This follows a similar incident last month in Safed where Haredi protesters blocked traffic and shouted "Shabbos" at drivers. Earlier on Saturday, a woman glued shut the entrance to Jerusalem's Basimta Cafe, which operates on Shabbat, an act captured on security footage and reportedly part of ongoing protests against the cafe.
