Haredi suspect found to be draft dodger after being detained over disruptively loud noise – report

A Haredi man was detained in Ahisamach for allegedly causing disruptively loud noise, leading police to discover he was a draft dodger, N12 reported Sunday. He was released approximately 30 minutes later, before Military Police arrived. Following his arrest, a large group from the Haredi community gathered to pressure police for his release. This incident follows Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent statement that if re-elected, he would not advance a contentious law to freeze arrests of Haredi draft evaders. Netanyahu reportedly stated that the legislation was unsuccessful and would be discontinued, adding that draft evaders who do not study Torah would either “enlist or go to prison.”
