Health Ministry investigating another suspected Ebola case after traveler returns from DR Congo

The Israeli Health Ministry is investigating a second suspected Ebola case involving a traveler who recently returned from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The individual developed a fever and other symptoms, prompting isolation at Sourasky Medical Center's Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv while tests are conducted. The Ministry emphasized that "no confirmed Ebola case has been diagnosed in Israel" and that Ebola is not airborne, spreading through direct contact with symptomatic individuals or their bodily fluids. The Health Ministry has implemented preparedness measures, including guidelines for medical teams, protective equipment acquisition, and early detection mechanisms for travelers from affected regions. Israelis are advised to avoid nonessential travel to areas with Ebola outbreaks, especially the DRC, and those returning from the DRC with symptoms within 21 days should self-isolate and contact the Kol Habriut hotline.
